Scarborough's Chris Stewart made a better impression at this year's Colorado Avalanche training camp than at last year's, but the result was the same for the 2006 first-round draft pick - a demotion back to the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League last Saturday, Oct. 4.
Stewart, still looking to play his first regular season NHL game, should be ripe for a call-up. In five pre-season games he compiled two assists and a plus-three.
Stewart's older brother Anthony, 23, however, who has spent the last three years commuting between the Florida Panthers and the AHL's Rochester Americans will start with the big club after his best ever training camp.
He added a goal and assist in the NHL's last pre-season game on Monday night as Florida shut out the New York Islanders 6-0. Also a first-round draft choice, the elder Stewart contributed three goals and two assists in five pre-season games.
Anthony attended Birchmount Park Collegiate while Chris went to West Hill Collegiate.
