Area's youth deserve more credit

I am writing in response to your article in the Etobicoke Guardian dated September 24, 2008 relating to Giant Tiger Film Night. In this article Giant Tiger management stated that they were hosting a film night at their location on Kipling Ave. in order to give youth in the area a chance for a constructive evening. Although I admire their intentions, I take great offence to their language. This is not a low-income neighborhood and comments like this do a disservice to the hard working homeowners in this area.

I also strongly object to the characterization of the youth in this area as being hoodlums. I am the mother of two teenage boys and they have never deliberately broken a window or used a gun. The teen friends from this area that they hang with have not done these things either.

It is comments like these that give a neighborhood a bad name and as a homeowner I think another article in the Guardian rescinding these statements is in order.
