NORTH YORK: Weekend gun violence leaves two men injured


Suspects sought in Friday and Saturday shootings

 
 
Two men are recovering following separate shootings in North York over the weekend.

At about 11:30 p.m. Friday, police were called to Vendome Place and Grenoble Drive in the Flemingdon neighbourhood for the sound of gunshots.

Police said two men were involved in a verbal altercation when one of the men produced a handgun and fired two shots. The victim fled on foot while the suspect fired three more shots at him.

The victim was treated in hospital for a gunshot wound to his right leg.

The shooter is 25 to 30 years old, five-feet 11-inches to six-feet tall, 180 pounds, with black or dark brown hair. He was riding a bicycle and was wearing a black hoodie and grey pants.

At 11:07 p.m. Saturday, a man was shot in the abdomen and leg on Duncanwoods Drive near Seacliff Boulevard in the Islington and Finch avenues area. He was taken to hospital for emergency treatment.

Police said two armed men had confronted the victim and that shots were fired at him by both suspects.

Police didn't release descriptions of the gunmen, who fled the scene.
